Back in the late part of 2008 our youth group called "Youth on the Rock" performed a skit we made up called the "Beauty from Pain Skit". It is a skit that paints a beautiful illustration of many different sins that the world throws our way and how Jesus Christ took all those sins away by giving his life on the cross for us. We performed it for our home church and a few different churches around the area. We seen what an impact it had and just how powerful the message was. Not being content with just reaching the locals we wanted to spread the message of Christ to even more people. So we went took our focus to the world wide web.
I heard a statistic recently that said, sixty-four percent of Americans seek spirituality on the internet. There are people who are seeking Christ who may only be comfortable searching for God in the privacy of their own home. As Christians we have to live up to the great commission of spreading the Gospel. As Christians we need to be there for them. With todays technology and the internet, it's getting easier to reach people in ways we never would have dreamed. One way that our Youth Group has found a way to reach people is through uploading videos on-line. Through the ever popular Youtube and upcoming website called Tangle we were able to show a skit to anyone in the world with just a few clicks on the keyboard. In January of 2009 we posted our first video on Youtube. When we posted "Beauty from Pain" Skit on Youtube it quickly gained interest. We had people from all parts of the world viewing our little skit. We have had views from Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, and of course the United States. It's amazing the places we have been able to reach out to. Since then God has blessed our Youth on the Rock Video Ministry and to date we have 6 powerful videos uploaded with over 17,000 views. Our videos can be viewed at www.youtube.com/youthontherock1
One of the best parts of this video ministry is that any church can do this. It doesn't matter if you are church of 40 members or 400. All you have to have is a little knowledge of computers and a digital camera. Then you can be on your way of reaching the world, to further the kingdom of Heaven. Now our little youth group from Bucyrus Ohio has been able to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. We have to step out on faith and dare to be different. We can't be afraid to try new things. If Satan can use something like the internet for things like pornography. Than we can use it to share the Lord's word. If we can utilize the tools that God has given us, than maybe we can make a difference in this world. This is just another way that through Christ all things are possible.
